Overview
What is CGEIT?
The CGEIT is aimed at experienced IT governance professionals at senior and executive levels and is little known outside this niche. It addresses the strategic management of IT governance frameworks such as COBIT and their embedding into organizational structures. Compared to CISA, the CGEIT is significantly more focused on management competence and strategic decision-making processes, less on operational audit activities. The certification is particularly relevant in regulated industries and large corporate structures where IT governance is established as an independent discipline. Due to its seniority and specialization, the CGEIT is a niche certification with a small but targeted market.

AMF prices are ISACA member prices. Membership adds 195 USD/year once per person (135 USD dues + 60 USD Germany chapter, varies by chapter); without membership the AMF is 85 USD per cert.

5 years of experience in IT governance. Min. 1 year in Domain 1.
Exam format
150 multiple-choice questions, 4 hours, proctored via PSI. Passing score: 450/800.
Renewal & maintenance
Valid for 3 years. 20 CPE hours/year + annual AMF (45 USD member / 85 USD non-member). A one-time application fee of 50 USD applies after passing the exam.
