What is eJPT?
The eJPT is the entry level of the INE Security Red Team path and is aimed at candidates with little or no prior cybersecurity experience. It is examined hands-on in a lab environment across four domains: host and network penetration testing (35 percent), assessment methodologies (25 percent), host and networking auditing (25 percent) and web application penetration testing (15 percent). With the March 2026 update the exam covers 45 instead of 35 questions and keeps the 48-hour format.

Cost over 5 years
Prerequisites
No formal entry requirements, anyone may attempt the exam. The voucher, however, is only available with an active INE subscription (Fundamentals, 349 USD per year, includes one voucher per year). INE expects a basic understanding of networks and systems.
Exam format
Hands-on lab exam with 45 questions in a 48-hour format (as of the March 2026 update). The voucher expires 180 days after purchase; one free retake is included and must be taken within 14 days. Grading is automated, and the result including a per-domain breakdown arrives within a few hours.
Renewal & maintenance
Valid for three years from the date awarded. Renewal runs either through 36 CPE credits, through a higher certification in the same INE career path, or by passing the current version of the exam. The fee is 99 USD per certification and cycle and is waived when renewing by passing the current exam. After expiry a 90-day grace period at 199 USD applies; after that only recertification remains.
