What is GCDA?

The GCDA certifies skills in detection engineering and SIEM analytics. The exam covers SIEM fundamentals, service profiling, advanced endpoint analytics, baselining and user behaviour monitoring, plus cloud logging in AWS and Azure, SIEM solutions in Azure, and tactical detection and post-mortem analysis. It is aligned with the SANS course SEC555. According to GIAC it addresses security analysts and architects, senior security engineers, technical security managers and monitoring specialists, security operations centre analysts, engineers and managers, system administrators, cyber threat investigators, and people working in continuous security monitoring or a hunt team capacity.
