Overview

What is PECB LCFE?

The PECB Certified Lead Forensics Examiner certifies holders to forensically investigate IT systems under professional standards. The five-day training belongs to the Computer Forensics track and covers fundamental principles, best practices, lab requirements, operating system and mobile device analysis, investigation methodology, and evidence-chain reporting and awards 31 CPD credits. The exam is an open-book test with multiple-choice and essay items, exam fee included in the training price. Full Lead tier requires five years of relevant forensics experience, lower tiers (Provisional, Forensics Examiner) are available without or with less experience. In the DACH market the scheme is an ISO-accredited alternative to GIAC GCFE and GCFA but has noticeably lower market recognition than the SANS tracks.
