What is PECB 22301LA?
The PECB ISO 22301 Lead Auditor certifies holders to plan and lead BCMS audits per ISO 22301 in conjunction with the audit principles from ISO 19011. The five-day training covers the audit life cycle, sampling, finding evaluation, and reporting and awards 31 CPD credits. The exam is a three-hour open-book test with scenario-based essay questions and a 70 percent passing score. Full Lead Auditor credentialing requires five years of professional experience (two in BCM) plus 300 audit hours, lower tiers (Provisional, Auditor) are available without those requirements. In the DACH market the scheme competes with IRCA-recognized BCMS Lead Auditor courses but is established with PECB partners and certification bodies.

No formal prerequisite to sit the exam. Certification is tiered: Provisional Auditor with no experience; Auditor needs 2 years of professional experience (1 year in business continuity management) and 200 hours of audit activities; Lead Auditor needs 5 years (2 years in business continuity management) and 300 hours of audit activities. Plus signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
Exam format
Scenario-based essay exam focused on BCMS audit principles, open-book, around 3 hours (plus 30 minutes for non-native speakers), 70 percent passing score. Permitted aids: ISO 22301 standard, ISO 19011, training material, personal notes.
