What is GCIA?
The GCIA certifies the ability to detect and analyse threats via network and host activity. The exam covers traffic analysis fundamentals and application protocols, the use of open source intrusion detection systems such as Snort and Zeek, and network traffic forensics and ongoing monitoring. It is aligned with the SANS course SEC503. According to GIAC it addresses practitioners responsible for intrusion detection, system and security analysts, network engineers and administrators, and security managers with a hands-on role.
