Overview
What is AIGP?
The AIGP is the first and so far most recognized governance certification from IAPP specifically for AI and has quickly established itself as a reference certification in the compliance and privacy environment since its launch in 2023. It covers the entire AI governance lifecycle – from risk classification through NIST AI RMF to regulatory requirements such as the EU AI Act – making it a solid foundation for anyone with AI-related governance responsibilities. Its strength lies in broad regulatory coverage and established market recognition through the IAPP community. Weakness: The certification is not ANAB-accredited (unlike CIPP/CIPM) and remains relatively policy-oriented without deep technical depth. For professionals who already hold CIPP or CIPM, it is a useful complement; it is also suitable as an entry point into the IAPP world.
