What is PECB Lead Cybersecurity Manager?
The PECB Certified Lead Cybersecurity Manager is the successor program to the ISO/IEC 27032 Lead Cybersecurity Manager retired on 15 Jan 2024. The five-day curriculum integrates ISO/IEC 27032 with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and covers building, operating, and continuously improving a cybersecurity program. The exam is a three-hour open-book test with multiple-choice and scenario questions, passing score 70 percent. Full Lead tier requires five years of professional experience (two in cybersecurity) plus 300 project hours, lower tiers (Provisional, Manager) are available without those requirements. The certificate positions itself as the cybersecurity manager counterpart to the ISO 27001 Lead Implementer world and is recognized in the DACH market by consultants and aspiring CISOs.

No formal prerequisite to sit the exam. Certification is tiered: Provisional Manager with no experience; Manager needs 2 years of professional experience (1 year in cybersecurity) and 200 hours of project activities; Lead Manager needs 5 years (2 years in cybersecurity) and 300 hours; Senior Lead Manager needs 10 years (7 years in cybersecurity) and 1,000 hours. Plus signing the PECB Code of Ethics.
